As a part of study of feasibility of Aquaponics system in Indian contest, we have started trials on RAS system in Vigyan ashram. In this trail we want to study scope and feasibility of high density fish farming in drought prone conditions like Pabal. In earlier trials of aquaponics, maintaining required fish density and water quality parameters were important challenge. Please follow above link for viewing , paper on Aquaponics experiment (Cucumber trial) we conducted at Vigyan ashram. Presently we are experimenting on aquaponics technique with Leafy vegetable system (Spinach) with tillapia fish. This time we have planned to study effect of aquaponics on fish growth by comparing it with control fish pond. Details will be posted separately.
Aquaponics experimental trial on polyhouse cultivated cucumber , is been concluded in June 2013. This trial shown significant difference for aquaponics Vs control treatment. Above report is summery of experiment.
From last 1.5 month we are testing feasibility of developing low cost domestic fodder sprouting (Hydroponics fodder) machine. In this regard same initial trials are conducted in closed chamber with temp/ humidity / air circulation controls. Main objective of this trial is to standardize environmental control factors for fodder machine and achieve output of 5 times growth (1:5) in 10 days span. In the recent trial , we found that 31 degree C and 77 % humidity would be required to get maximum yield in shortest time. Now VA is testing this project for farmers, as this is beneficial to farmers because they can get Nitrogenous waste water from fish tank
to utilize for crops and and crops absorbs Nitrogen and required water and remaining filtered water is taken back to the fish tank.
This project promotes fish farming as supportive business with modern agriculture.
